Dear Owie and Friends,

Thank you so much for the OwieBowWowie dog given to my son yesterday!!! We have been in and out of the hospital since mid September,  and mostly in isolation due to the flu precautions. I really really miss my cats at home and my son has been wanting a "pup" of his own. Yesterday I saw a commercial on the kids TV channel for a FurReal pet and told my husband, "Wow, I really miss my cats I wonder if a FurReal would help." :)  He laughed and replied, "We can't afford one and that's ForReal! ha, ha".  Within an hour your OwieBowWowie dog was presented to my son. He immediately loved it, played with it, played with the dog carrier box, and played with the collar. He's been showing off his "pup" to every visitor and is really impressed with the removable collar and the band aids. My son is getting blood thinning shots which are quite painful for a few minutes, and end with the obligatory band aid. And he was so entranced to have a dog who understood his predicament and obviously had been through a few boo boos of his own!!

And yes, for me, The Owie dog has been perfect too!! He's a great pillow and a soft comfort, your thoughtfulness to my son means so much to me during this hospitalization. We've had hard news regarding my son's prognosis and every gesture of love and joy and thoughtfulness offsets the pain and grief. Your gift of love to us is timely and perfect. It meets our needs to a absolutely and we are so very grateful for your time, effort and care!!!

We give our diabetic cat at home insulin shots twice a day...

This morning my son  sat up and exclaimed "I have and idea! After Teeger gets her shot we can put a band aid on her to make her feel better!!" :) He got the idea from your OwieBowWowie dog! It is such a joy to see him reflect on his ability to comfort someone else and feel comforted when we try to cheer him up after his shots!! He doesn't always express his feelings verbally, so I was so pleased to get his feedback!

Received this e-mail 10/28/09.

Since I wrote to you about my son, he has moved floors within the hospital. Before the move he carefully crated his OwieBowWowie dog in it's carrier and peeked in and said, "Are you ready Owie?" Then we moved floors and Owie was taken out and treated to some more purely imaginative, escapist type play. Your product is so perfect. Owie is versatile enough that my child goes back and forth between medical "play therapy" and regular imaginative stuffed animal play! I promised my son not to give you a blow by blow of what he did with Owie, but I will say that the collar makes a great zip line on the IV tubing and call button wire!! Watching my son play Super-Spy-Dog was a real joy!!

My favorite Bible verse right now is Jer. 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." It reminds me that God's plans are fabulous and wonderful. It helps me to look forward to the future without being too anxious.

My son is feeling much, much better now that he doesn't have his infection. On Fri. he will get a new central IV line to go home with and a biopsy. Then we will stay in the hospital for 10 more days of anti fungals to make sure the infection doesn't reappear.  And then we will be back to the real world to play and press on! My son loved his baptism! It was very nice. At the end he prayed "And so now, God, I had my baptism, and now I will just love you!

Press forward you powerful ArF AnGeLs of hope and love!!

Love, Tiffany
