OwieBowWowie and Friends is a 501(c)3 that comforts hurts and hearts by donating "OwieBowWowies" to children at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. OwieBowWowie's brings joy to countless children that are hospitalized or in treatment for serious health conditions.
Hospital Facts:
- CHLA is world-renowned for its patient care. The sickest, most seriously injured children are treated here.
- We treat more than 62,000 patients a year in our Emergency Department, alone.
- We admit more than 11,000 children a year to the hospital, with almost 50 percent of those admissions children under four years of age.
- There are more than 287,000 visits a year to our 29 outpatient clinics and laboratories; nearly 3,300 visits at community sites through our Division of Adolescent Medicine.
- We are able to offer the optimum in multidisciplinary care, with more than 100 pediatric subspecialties and subspecialty areas.
Each year in the United States, over 20 million children are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Forty-two percent of these children have no family or friends to visit or comfort them. This is where OwieBowWowie comes in.
OwieBowWowie is an adorable 14" hospital-approved plush stuffed puppy that brings hospitalized children comfort at a time when they are scared, hurting or lonely for a friend to simply be there with them. Owie also comes complete with his own blanket, activity/coloring book, crayons, and carrying case.
Our goal was to meet the need of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and provide an OwieBowWowie to each of the 1,000 children admitted each month.
